to me I don't believe in any kind of purging about what was done or made. Whether it would be a cartoon of President Obama dressed as a pimp or whatever comes out. There are lessons to be learned about the time or the psyche of the moment. The choice becomes afterward what is learned from it.

As to the body shaming part this statue I don't think this should be presented to a 2nd grader or even someone in a lot higher grade. As a parent and grand parent I would not want them to see it. But there is a lot of other things I also would consider inappropriate for them to see at different stages of their life. To me how you raise a child has far more importance then this. Also even if the statues are destroyed the pics will be around as long as the internet is here. And that will not be erased for a long time. It will be forgotten by most, but still there.

Anyways I'm pretty sure there will always be differences of opinions. And discussions about it or other things like it is in the end a good thing.

A cartoon of Obama as a pimp is clearly intended to be racist. Warren DeMontague Aug 2016 #20
This is what he looks like naked. The point of the statue is "he's naked", not "he's fat" Warren DeMontague Aug 2016 #17
