Oct 2016

Right now it's drizzling a bit and the wind is starting to pick up some. Earlier it was just dead still and the sky was an eerie greenish gray color but I expect things will start to deteriorate rapidly here in Wellington after 3 pm this afternoon. I'm ready!!

The animals are all safe and sound inside.

I've got one of my daughter's Pom and a kitty visiting while she headed west to Colorado with the rest of the girls. I'm keeping one cat in the garage and her's is hiding under a bed 'cause he is a feral rescue and really doesn't take change well. It was just loads of fun stuffing him into that little carrier for the trip over here and I've got the scars to remind me. He likes me too, but...

He'll come out from under to the edge of the bed frame for a treat and head scratch but has not emerged to eat or drink which has me a bit concerned. Can't put his food and water under the bed or the other Poms will finish it off for him. I'll figure something to keep them outta that bedroom for awhile I guess so he can eat.

Once the storm really hits tonite, all the animals will be terrified. The noises, if one has never heard the wind at that level before, are loud and very frightening.

Oh,oh look! Governor Rick "Batboy" Scott just came on and announced that Mathew was now a Cat IV hurricane. He also urged all homeless people to avoid the shelters and just ride it out in the open since there's no Medicare available in Florida for them anyway.

Just kidding... but I did hear him mention that the sooner it was over for everybody's sake - the better.

I sure hope failed Presidential candidate Sen. Rubio can be defeated before he get can get his lazy ass back into the Senate and help his buddies block any possible progressive bills from being passed. Looks like Hills is going to win here and take Florida's not insignificant total of electoral votes if things continue here (and nation wide) the way they have been. Still gotta GOTV though!!! I sent Hillary $$ and signed on to volunteer, but haven't really heard much back from them until yesterday so after this mess is over I'll go phone bank somewhere in West Palm.

I started this thread because I hadn't seen another one on this storm at that time. I'd be curious to hear from other DU'ers north of me along the coast 'cause while I should be fine, they will be the ones with the most damage. We will all lose power, no doubt, so we'll have to play strip poker for entertainment later, I guess.

anyway, thanks again to all for your kind words!
