I often used hands free devices so I could talk to my friend or spouse while driving - for me it was an anxiety issue and I still need to listen to music or podcasts. If I am not a little distracted I overthink what I am doing and freak out...I need to be on autopilot a little.
That said, texting while driving never occurs to me. It's ridiculous, and I tell my husband all the time not to do it even at red lights. There is nothing that important. Of course I feel that way about speeding or impaired driving. I cannot imagine ever having to explain to someone that I severely injured or killed their loved one because I had to answer a text or was running late to work.
I am so sorry for the families of both men - what a terrible tragedy.
