(9,313 posts)State parties control the method for selecting the nominee. If State Democratic Parties started implementing ranked choice it would put IRV/choice voting into the national spotlight. Once in the public mind, It just makes so much sense I think we would see it quickly spread to local, than state, and eventually fed elections. This is another of those areas that keeping the ultimate goal-- IRV/ranked choice at every level -- firmly in the spotlight as we work to implement within our own party.

There are arguments that it may not withstand constitutional challenge, but even just having it in place and struck down would spur action forward on amending the constitution. And that is of course the ultimate goal... one of those goals we keep the spotlight on as we do whatever we can to move toward that goal.
