17. In case you havent noticed

... WE Democrats have pointed out what we thought was “common ground” all along.

WE represent affordable healthcare for all – they voted for the man who promised to overturn it, and leave the sick to fend for themselves as they die.

WE are the party of responsible education – they voted for the party that wants the Bible to be taught in place of scientific fact.

WE fought for a raise in the minimum wage – they voted for the party that thinks tax-cuts for the wealthy are more important.

WE believe the country is strengthened by diversity – they voted for the idea that only white Christians are acceptable as citizens.

WE stand up for the rights of women and their recognition as equal to men – they voted for a man who thinks women are “pussies” to be grabbed or to be judged only on their sexual attractiveness, and should have no rights over their own bodies.

WE believe that everyone should be judged on the basis of who they are – they elected a man who judges people on the basis of their religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and/or race.

WE want our water to be potable and our environment to be protected – they voted for a man who thinks corporate profits should supersede any concerns about people being poisoned by the water they drink, or the idea of leaving a habitable country to our children.

WE offered a candidate with intelligence and experience, who is respected the world over – they preferred a bloviating liar who has made us the laughingstock of the planet.

WE believe in the sanctity of our democracy and the sanctity of every citizen’s right to vote – they voted for a party that has suppressed the votes of every demographic that opposes their agenda.

WE support social programs that feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and care for the sick – they voted for the party that hypocritically hold themselves out as “Christians” while ignoring the principles that Christ himself admonished his followers to support as part of their faith.

WE believe in patriotism and love of our country – they voted for a man whose devotion to our sworn enemy, Putin, is as evident as it is undeniable.

WE stand for truth and justice – they voted for a man who has been caught lying repeatedly, and who has ignored the law at every turn.

So tell me again what “common ground” there is between us and them. WE will never “agree” with those who are too stupid to recognize that they’ve been had by a party who doesn’t give a shit about their lives, and a con-artist who has made his fortune preying on suckers who are dumb enough to buy his bullshit.

“Common ground” – yeah, that’s gonna happen. Keep dreamin’.
