(7,887 posts)But you are right, we believe in the Democratic process, even when it seems broken beyond repair.
As a DEM you have to work your ass off with little expectation of real approval or support most days, just doing the work that needs to be done because it has to be done.
But the "soul selling" that goes on in the rethug party creates this atmosphere of entitlement to absolute crazy-town ideas because somehow the more outrageous and willing to break the very laws they are elected to defend, the more they tell themselves how right they were in the first place because they get their way. They grab up power through stealing elections and say, "See, it's a mandate."
BUT the problem is:
People are seeing ALL politicians in this light now.
I have friends and family that don't trust ANY of them. Being a DEM, I'm somewhat inclined to agree up to the point of continuing to nag my elected leaders to do the work that needs to be done because it needs to be done, in spite of the impossible obstacles that must be overcome to do even the simplest of political tasks these days.
But most of these rethugs, I'd be afraid to sit in the same room with them.
There are some ok Republicans, but they aren't the crazy-town type and their numbers are few.
