2. One of the things we realized after cutting the cord

was the difference between finding info. and news that WE wanted, versus having selected news pushed at us via a few news outlets., in between commercial breaks, and on someone else's schedule.

2nd thing was there are some really good news sources on the web, and it is insanely easy to track down a story in just a few minutes, and about news the MSM does not even cover. They pick the most sensational, according to the old maxim "if it bleeds, it leads" .

Plus, video news needs ACTION! and movement. CNN famously jumped the shark on that a couple years after the Iraq invasion, when it sent a field crew out to follow some newsy thing in some city here, and for several excruciating minutes, I think it was Andrea Mitchell, was reduced to inane babbling to fill air time, reporting on the occasional passing of....cars on the street.
