it only exists because private insurers would not cover the elderly at anything resembling an affordable cost.
Bottom line, if we go back to the old system, we go back to the elderly dying in poverty from a lack of access to medical care.

I do too. Had Kaiser before I went back on employer's plan. I liked it, but didn't have much choice

I liked Kaiser too. Plus, with Advantage plans, there is a cap on how much you pay out-of-pocket.
