4. My daughter will never understand me

I just deleted the 40-year saga...

She is charming and has a powerful personality. On Facebook I read how many people love her as the "Queen of Our Tribe." She's a good Mom to her boys. And like me, she's a liberal, a feminist, and politically active.

But I don't think she even likes me, and I don't trust her with my heart after all she has put me through. This was not how it was supposed to be, but it is what it is until someday perhaps it will change.

However, I got a call today asking why I had not responded to her fb invite (I didn't see it) and did I want to come over for a Mother's Day brunch on Sunday, and I responded with gladness that yes, I would like to come.

I will be there, and I am glad she remembered.

It's not easy on either side of the divide.
