But there's something else in play, I think, that factors into this. The media, be it on the left, right, or (ostensibly) "in the middle," will always remain keen on keeping up the fiction, for the benefit of their slovenly audience, that the American people are fit to govern themselves.

The simple fact that Donald Trump is President, that he was so elected, puts that notion to the lie. But we can't risk having the Great American Myth subject to scrutiny.
