You see the president. He's not in the WH, so he's not obligatorily working. (Like you can't have a kip in the Oval Office or skyve in your personal quarters.)

You even see a picture of him engaging in some leisure activity. Out with wife. Swinging his club and trying to make a hole in one. Whatever.

You have to decide if this is a good thing.

You check to see his political party.

You check your own political party.

If they agree, then he's obviously entitled to a little rest--and really, given the interconnected age in which we live and the demands of the job, he's always on duty. The WH follows him, with phones and aides and computers.

If they don't agree, then he's obviously loafing and wasting taxpayer dollars. Not that this is a bad thing, because otherwise he's busy undermining fundamental American values like your own.

Bush II was always on vacation, and loafing. Obama, well, he was "on vacation" (wink-wink, nudge-nudge) but while a *real* vacation would be well deserved, in fact his "vacation" consisted of an additional 30 seconds in the shower followed by 20 minutes on the putting green. Otherwise, wherever he was, whoever was with him, he was the man on the job because it's a job that follows you everywhere. Trump, on the other hand, he's always on vacation and loafing.

I saw the same discussion with Reagan/Bush I, then Clinton, then Bush II, then Obama, now Trump. It's all bleating. If a (D) wins in 2020, of course there's no "real" vacation for the president; if a (R) wins, of course when he's not actively in a meeting he's goofing off (to the Republic's great relief).
