I think "tomato" in Spanish is "jitomate" (singular) or "tomate" (plural)
Estos tomates se ven deliciosos = Those tomatoes look delicious
Le pondre jitonate a la ensalada = I'll put some tomato in the salad

(Wouldn't it be great if a courageous Trump-protester would throw a tomato at him?)
