(11,496 posts)that seems too often to be the case. Not sure how this is all going to work out. But my brother-in-law was pissed and resents that our youngest son is living in the old home now. He's living there and care taking the property until we move back to the area. Then once our son makes other arrangements, we'll put the property up for sale. My husband is back and forth on the matter. I would not be surprised if he offers his brother part of the proceeds through gifting.
The main thing for me is this: my brother-in-law lives in Delaware County, only about five minutes away. He could have offered some resolution/assistance to his mother before we had to uproot her from everything she knew and loved. But he didn't. So . . .
Things can get really ugly after a parent's death.
