In reply to the discussion: Bernie claps back at Trump & doesn't take his bait on DNC [View all]Thirties Child
(543 posts)I held my nose because I saw nothing authentic in Hillary. Everything about her seemed controlled, straight out of a focus group. I never bought right wing lies about her, rooted for her in the early 90s in her attempt to overhaul the health care system, felt such sympathy for her during the Monica mess. I still remember the Clinton walk to the helicopter, Chelsea walking between them, holding hands with each one. Getting through that intact took so much courage. One of my strongest memories of the Clintons' is Hillary waiting in the car while Bill comforted the parents of those killed in the TWA accident. When he came back, he collapsed into her arms. The scene, barely captured through a tv lens, was real, so much caring, so much feeling in both of them. I didn't see any of that honesty in the campaign. Everything about her seemed calculated. Btw, I hope Bernie won't make a run in 2020. He'll be much too old. And I speak as someone almost seven years older than he is. We need younger blood and I don't see it emerging. Very discouraging future for Dems, for America. Sigh.
