In reply to the discussion: Sanders Likely to Face Donald Trump in 2020 Election [View all]Demsrule86
(68,455 posts)We are Democrats who generally get out the vote and help raise money...he is no longer that popular even among those who were super supporters before. He has made statements about the Democratic Party that have brought his numbers down with those who vote in primaries...oh sure the Right wing types love him (but would cut off their fingers before voting for him) and the Our Revolution (Democratic party haters) love him. But that won't be enough to win a primary. None of the candidates he backed (Mello, Perriello and Quist) won so I don't see evidence that his message is really taking hold . He is valuable in the Senate....and with Vermont having a GOP governor, Sanders would be replaced with a righty should he resign from the Senate...that can't happen...so this is another reason, he should not run.
