And that "gleeful look in their eye" is really them frustrated and angered that they are supposed to say that and try to sound happy and smile for the 150th time that day when they are not feeling the spirit of the holidays in light of their barely making it on minimum wage and increased costs of living?

Just like when you are told as a kid to give a hug and kiss to the creepy family friend?
