3. Actually, Kate Troll(who was one of Juneau's better recent Assembly members) had her reasons.

You had the entire right wing of the Assembly ganging up to defeat her(as they did to defeat progressive mayoral candidate Karen Crane in the special election earlier this year)by demonizing her vote on limiting the sales tax exemption for seniors. In truth, both of them only removed the exemption for out-of-borough seniors and only on non-food items. The opponents of this change made it sound like Crane and Troll were making it harder for the elderly to buy food. The choice was to make this minor change or to make deeper cuts in local services.

Why SHOULD Troll have graciously congratulated the person who defeated her as the result of a smear campaign? If she had done so, she would have been validating what they did to her.

In posting a link to this, you are inadvertently endorsing a right-wing attack on one of our better former Assembly members(I lived in Juneau from 1982 until the end of July) by a local GOP type with deep ties to the long-standing Republican majority in the Alaska legislature.

I just thought you should know.
