Gen. John Fremont from a soldier to him while they were massacring a village of Indians who asked him do we kill the children, babies and old people: "Nits grow into lice." Needless to say, no one but the soldiers left that camp alive.

Soldiers have the right and duty to not follow terrible orders like that. It has precedence in law and international law.
