In reply to the discussion: Sobbing Bernie Sanders Volunteer Goes Viral With Tale of ‘Sick’ Trump Voters [View all]cannabis_flower
(3,764 posts)86. If you are going to win the GE in a red state
you are going to have to target independents and if you want to win the primary in an open primary state like Texas, you definitely would want to attract some crossover voters. Sorry, that's just the way the game is played in open primary states like Texas.
It could work for or against your candidate. I have heard of Democrats going to the Republican primary and voting for what they consider the least electable candidate. I have never done that but it happens a lot. The reason it doesn't happen more is because if you vote in the opposite party primary, you won't be eligible to go to any Democratic convention and participate in the nitty-gritty of the party such as writing the state party platform or going to the National Convention.

This is why I've always questioned the "Sanders can really bring in Independents" argument.

I find the lack of empathy from some of these commenters reprehensible and disgusting.

It can be challenging when we have our heart in it and get an ass on the other end.

There are a lot of DINO's in the Deep South and it's mostly an open primary.

The DNC list would be filtered...which tells me Sanders is getting additional lists elsewhere
