2. I'm beginning to wonder

if what is happening is that marginal Democrats who usually don't vote
are motivated by the threat to our democracy of Trump as well as the
unusual prospect of a relatively progressive liberal platform and a solid
candidate are all causing people to pay attention

In other words, give people something important to oppose and
something tangible to vote for and they will vote!

unless our later voters are voting early ... time will tell
