61. There really is nothing we can do

this is the breaking point of two decades of slippage, starting with the Nwet years you reference, by this country.

We have seen the republican party slowly assimilate more power in DC an the states at the same time they have become exponentially more bold and radical, and they were raging assholes to start with in the 90s.

The problems is that the people of this country are now in three fairly evenly divided camps.

Us, the 1/3 who deal in reality, have a civil and accepting mindset and can't fathom us being where we are now.

Republicans, 1/3 of people who either are full on or have some component of their mind that is hateful, that are full on board with republicans doing what they are doing.

The few "independents" and other apolitical types who are the 1/3 that are willing to accept whatever fuckwittery that the Rs engage in because they believe in whatever form of the evil liberal boogyman that gets foisted into the soft melons.

We are flat fucked, there is absolutely not energy to push back on the Rs at this point.
