Working back channels to lift sanctions is in itself unethical, to say the least, but there is apparently more, such as trying to swing the Ukrainian election to be more to Putin's liking. If Sater is compromised, he would have a hell of a lot of information to give out about his deal-making on Dolt45's behalf.

All of this, using more than one level of intermediary to hide the President's complicity, is becoming too unwieldy to sustain.
