6. I think this will have the opposite effect in this election.

The more they start piling on and stating that the pedophile should withdraw, the more and more entrenched his voters will become (and let's face it, that's the majority of the Alabama population who would rather be flayed than ever vote for a Democrat). Why else would they begin to do this? it's too late to replace him on the ballot. It's more likely they've got internal polls that actually show the more they say "pull out", the stronger his support gets. They haven't all suddenly en masse grown a conscience.
