Marriage equality law passes Australia's parliament in landslide vote

6. Great news

A couple of takeaways from the debate yesterday:

The Liberals (or LNP - Liberal National Party coalition) are not really liberals - they are our conservatives strangely enough. I get the impression that they are seeking to distance themselves from the Republican conservatives of the USA because of the association with Trump.

Maybe I'm wrong - maybe we just don't have the numbers and calibre of RWNJs here. I've been pleasantly surprised by the right-wingers in Parliament who came out strongly for this bill; Warren Entsch, George Brandis and others.

Truly a wonderful day, you rarely see so much jubiliation in parliament coming from both sides. Video below of the bill's passing. Fast forward to a little after 6 minutes, parliamentarians sing along with the gallery, the Seekers song 'I am Australian'.
