In reply to the discussion: Trump Admin Moves To Officially Ban Bump Stocks [View all]jmowreader
(50,552 posts)27. Full auto is for suppressive fire and mass killing
Let's say I'm trying to move an infantry squad to contact. It'll work much better if I don't have the enemy killing us while we're trying to kill them...so I have my squad machine gunner fire his M249 (which only fires full auto) over the squad's head in the direction of the enemy. This will cause them to take cover and either not fire back at all, or fire erratically in hopes of causing us to take cover too.
If we're on the receiving end of an enemy assault, my M249 gunner will be able to kill them in greater quantities than my troops firing singles would be able to.
Now understand: I absolutely LOVE to fire full auto. It is the most fun thing you can do in the Army. It's also something that should stay in the Army.

About damned time!! Will the NRA try to fight this, considering the shape they are in currently?

I was thinking that Trump's checks from the NRA bounced or just stopped showing up.
