Declare victory and go home.

It'll fall apart, at least partially because the US will renege.

In the end, it won't be the US's fault but the faction of the US that's 'not us', whoever 'us' is doing the speaking. There'll be a disaster.

And the peace and abnegation of commitments will be swamped by the claim that the US 'lost the war'. There may even be a nice evacuation of the embassy that most will somehow think is the emergency retreat of the US military.

The one difference is that there aren't many in the US who support the Taliban. I've dealt with some, and as before some de-facto Taliban supporters are as much anti-US/Western as pro-whatever. They just don't call themselves "Taliban supporters", but apart from that phrase there's not much difference between the two sides in what actions they call for.
