(738 posts)16. Growing up in Nebraska in the 70s,
If you were under 16, they didn't have to pay you the minimum wage. You were also limited in the number of hours you could work. I worked in a donut shop and it was hard work! The day I turned 16 I quit and went to work at a dry cleaners where I could study when the shop was empty.
So I get the logic of it, but under 18 makes way more sense than under 22. After high school, most kids are either in college or working as much as they can and have way more needs. They start perhaps paying rent and other bills if they're not living at home.
Arizona needs to rethink this.
