They are doing it, illegally in my view, to support their perversion of the truth and to legitimate their tenure. Yes I know about the fantastic amounts of money involved, and their influence pedaling. This is as much about making all things Trump says true as it is about avoiding legal dire straits.

The principle purpose for doing this is it makes them right and anyone trying to apply reason wrong, just as they have done elsewhere in government. I suspect this will not stand legal challenge since it was composed by Barr and presumes to make a special legal class out of the Trump owned properties. Can you imagine if they were told to apply the same standard to properties owned by a Democratic supporter?
