FBI opens domestic terror investigation into the El Paso shooting

14. To the best of my knowledge there is no federal crime called 'domestic terrorism'

so I gotta call bullshit on the FBI's characterization. Federal terrorism statutes are very narrow in scope. The maniac Coast Guard officer planning to kill members of Congress couldn't be charged with terrorism the law is so narrow in scope. They are quite correct to label it 'domestic terrorism', but there ain't no such law. The existing laws were written to deal with foreign groups and nation-states, not American citizens. One might even postulate that they were written in this narrow manner to prevent the law from being used against white Americans.

*Edit...just now read that the FBI is even walking back calling it a hate crime! Saw this coming...
