(13,570 posts)If the Dems take over the Congress and they pass a law outlawing Citizens United, it would be immediately challenged in court and struck down in violation of the CU precedent. They may be able to pass and keep disclosure provisions and maybe a few other modifications, but they can't outlaw CU outright. If they passed such a law, it would be immediately challenged at struck down by the SCOTUS. All we can hope for is for a right wing justice to retire so Obama can appoint another progressive, the we can reverse CU. Changing the constitution is another way, but the red states won't do and we would need a congressional supermajority. Ain't gonna happen. This is why we MUST re-elected Obama and hope a right winger like Scalia retires. On voter suppression, there are all kinds of cases where outright suppression like phone jamming, fake calls, etc. HAVE been prosecuted. Look them up. Dems need to have MANY good poll watchers and lawyers on the ground to make sure irregularities are reported and documented.
