7. Grassley, Graham, Cornyn and Tillis aren't likely 2024 candidates.

Grassley is older than God and won't be running again. Graham is firmly implanted inside Trump's colon, where he's safe, and he's from SC, where he's also safe. Cornyn is from TX and he isn't up for re-election for another six years; same with Tillis. So they probably feel like they can afford to go against the MAGAts now and then. Cruz, Hawley, Cotton and Sasse, on the other hand, are potential candidates if Trump ever gets his fat orange ass out of the way. In the meantime they have to placate the MAGAts and His Lardship himself. This might be Sasse's symbolic gesture of re-toeing the GOP party line, knowing Garland would be approved anyhow.
