Traditionally, men would resign due to shame and embarrassment, due to scandals that probably would not have resulted in forced removal from office. It was a social norm.
But Trump showed that even at the office of president, you can simply show no shame, stonewall, and keep going. Several times, it was expected that Trump would fall for sure due to scandal, and he simply kept on going. The power of the press had met its match.
Things like this used to upset me, now I just accept it as part of a society that constantly changes.
