I just saw through it for about as long as I can remember. One, when I was about 12, a preacher was going door-to-door and I was home alone. He spent about a half hour haranguing me (despicable I realized when I was older) but I never gave in to his plea to come to his church. In college, reading Weber, I got the reasons why religion developed the way it did, and it had nothing to do with goodness. It's just, as you write, BS.
