When you start probing for interpretation and analyzing data, if students don't come the same conclusion their parents come to, I get phone calls, emails, and principal complaints.
Same in the four countries other than US I've taught in. To be honest, I had more academic freedom in International IGCSE/A-Level and IB schools in China than here in "free thought" USA.
