(1,242 posts)She has been a little timid, as a Dem in a red state. I work and grew up in her old house district and it is the former college townish more liberal area of the south valley in Phoenix Metro. She needs a couple or at least one more election cycle to settle in. The headlines bother me, but if she ran as Republican, elections would be easier for but she runs as a Democrat. The purpling and bluing of the state almost requires she play it safe to keep it safe for Dems - for now. The more the state turns away from voting auto red, the more liberal she will message and of course, vote.
Manchin is frustrating, but he knows what he needs to run on in typical elections. The question is - is there such thing as a typical election or does he need to run on liberal working class messaging and voting records?
