The Anti-Abortion moment is NOT non-partisan—it is an integral part of today’s Republican Party. This cannot be stressed enough. The Republican Party and the Anti-Abortion movement are Siamese twins. The Anti-Abortion movement not only controls Republican Party politics, but the Anti-Abortion movement works to elect Republicans. Often, Republican Party officials and Anti-Abortion movement officials are one and the same: not just figuratively, but LITERALLY.

This also means something else—the Anti-Abortion movement now bears responsibility for right-wing Republican health-care policy: not just responsibility for the Republicans’ anti-reproductive rights policy, but also responsibility for their pet officials’ hostility towards providing health care access to the poor and strained but for the Republican Party’s continuing efforts to limit affordable health care for the rest of us.
