they had started locking up formula, in some cases, also putting it right at the front of the store near the cashier, years ago. This practice was most severe during the various recessions although at my local supermarket, when they recently re-did the store, I think they finally put it back on the shelves. Haven't really paid attention anymore but should just check the next time I'm at the store.

I remember when my youngest nieces and nephews were using it, it was like $25/can, but that was awhile ago. Not sure how much it is now.
