(8,821 posts)Detectives trying to solve a crime look for motive. When they find the person who had motive to commit the crime, they usually have found their perpetrator. The U. S. and Israel both had excellent motives for wanting Morsi removed from office. The U. S. could not count on a Muslim Brotherhood President to stay in line and reliably support American hegemony in the oil-rich Mid East. A populous, well-armed Egypt under an Islamist government could have become a major problem.
Israel, of course, saw Egypt under a political party allied with Hezbollah as a threat to their expansion onto Palestinian lands, perhaps even as a threat to their nation's very existence.
Yes, the U. S. and Israel are at the top of the suspect list. If it turns out that anyone else caused the coup to happen, I will be greatly surprised.
