(8,210 posts)The kind of paranoia currently on display at the head of the Democratic party closely resembles the Republican campaign that put GWB into office. Open hostility towards any but the preferred candidate before the primary, loyalty pledges, vicious partisan attacks, swift boating fellow party members, and a rat-fucking program lead by David Brock.
They have managed to do what the Republicans never could by alienating traditional Democratic voters at a time when we need every vote that hasn't been gerrymandered, contested, challenged, denied, or just plain stolen.
It is one thing when an individual candidate acts this way. It is entirely another when the whole party leadership abuses the voter's trust by strangling discussion of important issues within the party and scuttling the chances for down line state and local party races.
I regret to say it may be too late and that DWS leaving the head of the party would not repair the damage done. But I fear it may be so. I'm seeing that kind of damage locally.
