5. Improving society is creepy???

Huh? Isn't changing the way we think about the human condition, and the nature of (small d) democracy, how progress happens? For example, giving the victor the control over gerrymandering (which lead to huge Republican abuses after 2010) means we need to rethink the geometry of districts. We once considered African Americans deserving of 2/3rds of a vote – and we changed that after decades upon decades of rethinking the way our democracy was functioning. We need to rethink a lot of things to create "a more perfect union." Is that creepy?

Would you prefer to keep the capitalism vs socialism game going? Wouldn't it make sense to rethink how we frame the debate?
