6. Nobody knows exactly

There were the 1,600 officially recognized 'Paperclip' Nazis (mainly scientists who ended up at NASA, JPL, etc.) - but also up to 10,000 Nazi SS and intelligence officers, including the originators of many of the torture, organized crime, and psy-ops tactics that were later used in the School of the Americas and similar sites to train assorted Third World miscreants.

Because their presence couldn't be acknowledged at the time, these were the ones that ended up hidden, with assumed identities, in and around Escondido (which, as you may know, means 'hidden' in Spanish).

Most of them are dead now surely - though I can tell you their sons and grandsons are still there, and in some cases active in politics.

GOP politics, natürlich.
