Another way to view them is that they lack the critical thinking skills to understand the world and need benevolent leadership to give them accurate frames to enable them to have a rational world view. Trump has exploited this misguided populism to the max. They need a different leadership to show them how to think. They need to be lead to appreciate what good government can do for them. They feel abused by the system and they HAVE been abused by the system. I feel sorry for them as well as I sometimes hate them for the chaos and insanity they have fueled.
