7. How can people be so irresponsible, indeed.

And yet we know that are many, many gun owners (a lot of them parents) who don't keep their firearms safely locked up. We are reminded of this every time a small child gets hold of a gun and ends up shooting themselves or someone else. We are also reminded of this when an older child brings a gun to school, as in this case. A gun that a parent or other adult in the household was not storing properly. It's tragic, and it's outrageous.
