One of the reasons I embraced Nichiren Buddhism in the first place is its teaching that all life is equal and equally respectworthy no matter what religion, and no matter what form that life takes. As you so aptly document, that is exactly what Jesus taught -- respect for all life as the core of his teachings, no matter the religion or lack thereof -- or, as it's expressed in the Bible, when asked what his one supreme teaching was, "Love one another." This is also the core of Buddhist teaching, and Buddhism also carries something you say here one step further. The pervasive lack of respect for life in this country is not just part of the reason for the tribulations, it IS the reason. Nichiren said, "When the minds of the people are pure, the land will be pure also." We plan to have world peace, but no need for everyone to practice Nichiren Buddhism.... As long as enough people respect all life, the tribulations will cease and we will have peace.
