I have not been active for quite a while and figured after 30 years, I need to spend most of my remaining days around home. Plus, most of my old reliable AA friends have passed. I may change my mind if I can get myself back healthy with some stamina again and after the pandemic passes. I've became gosh-awful sedentary, depressed and lazy since retirement, a lot of people dying and Mr. Pandemic.
You bring up a good point. In all facets of human social interaction, there's no substitute for face-to-face interaction including handshakes and hugs when appropriate. I still say I received the very best emotional support in my life (after leaving home at 17) at mine or another member's kitchen table, one-on-one and with good coffee! Part of that is because I'm an introvert, but I also enjoyed my men's group meeting when they were fairly small.
Please be careful out there this winter. We don't need any broken bones among good Democrats or AA members!
