Great Grandmother, Joanna Blessing married to William Towne was accused of witchcraft, but never convicted. Three of their children, Rebecca, Mary and Sarah were convicted of being witches. Rebecca and Mary were hanged; Sarah survived. The movie, "Three Sovereigns for Sarah", tells about their ordeal. Also the Arthur Miller play, "The Crucible was based on their trial.

William and Joanna came to Salem from Great Yarmouth England in 1635.
