7. I've gotten more alive than dead critters

Have found that the birds will sit quietly for about half an hour and then fly away - except the hummingbirds who go dormant while in the house then fly away the minute they are outside. Lizards and mice both scamper away pretty quick.

I've gotten pretty good at "indoor small critter rescue" and am sure my cat enjoys watching me chase them - though she knows she could do a better job.

What you've got is tough, sometimes they just need time. Hopefully an animal rescue can give you some advice.
