16. I have been there too many times...remembering the happy times helps.

I hope you are able to grieve and then remember fondly your time together and take solace in having provided a loving home and sharing your time together.

Our family is going to soon be facing this difficult decision with our rescue mutt...she is a bigger dog (over 50 lbs) and 10 years old but losing mobility fast. It is starting to get hard on her to go up and down stairs. We try to treasure the time we have left as much as possible, but she'll get some extra pets and hugs tonight...
