(5,067 posts)45. In the winter I put shelves in front of windows and grow basil, parsley, rosemary and thyme in pots.
I put the pots on the deck for the summer and pretty much just use the herbs in my garden then. The sage, oregano, thyme, catnip, etc. are all perennial and the cilantro, basil, and parsley reseed themselves. The plants in pots don't grow as big but produce enough for winter.

Cardamom is actually a seed ... so it's a spice, but not technically a(n) herb :)
