I know the joys of walking barefoot down a dimly lit hall at the crack of dawn and stepping on warm gopher guts squishing up between my toes. The countless times I was presented with mauled corpses of mice and squirrels ceremoniously laid on my pillow.

But then the cat got really sick from her forays into wild cuisine and she nearly died. After that we removed her cat door and ended her smorgasbord sojourns afield. She was determined to go back to her nightlife safari romps, but we got her a bunch of new toys and playtime become a good substitute.

Ever since then I keep my kitties indoors and they are content to watch the bird TV and their own little aquarium. They are safe, healthy and happy, and the little outdoor beasties are relieved.
